Zoe Wood makes a return to the U's for the 2025-26 season, marking Sean Greygoose's first player signing as Cambridge United Women's Head Coach...
The Midfielder joined the U's back in the 2023-24 season, after taking a one-year break since leaving then-Women's Championship side Lewes F.C. in 2022 where she played for two seasons.
Zoe boasts a highly impressive football resume having excelled particularly in the junior ranks, where she played for Chelsea Youth, and has in the region of 50 caps for England Youth, including a third-place finish in the Under-20 World Cup in 2018.
Zoe's single season with Cambridge United Women proved to be one of the most successful years for the U's, where they reached the final of the FA Women's National League Plate Competition. Zoe was a versatile player within the squad but predominantly played a Central Midfield position.
On returning to the U's, Zoe said, "I’m really excited to be back playing for Cambridge in the 25/26 season, having taken a year out due to the birth of my first baby."
"Cambridge United is a club that has made me feel at home since day one, and the team culture has provided me a place to be myself both on and off the pitch.”
Sean Greygoose was appointed as the Women's Head Coach last week, and hopes the addition of Zoe will help bolster his side for the upcoming season,
"Zoe is a player that I watched a couple of seasons ago with Cambridge. She’s the type of player who has the ability to change a game with a magic moment. More importantly she brings a positive energy and is an all round brilliant person to have in the group."
He added, "I am really excited to work alongside Zoe and the other Women, and really feel this is a massive step in allowing us to achieve our goals for the upcoming season."
