Cambridge United are pleased to announce that Jasper Briggs, George Munday and Harry Dawson have signed first-year professional contracts with the Club...
The three players have excelled during their two-year scholarship with the U's and have now been rewarded with a one-year professional contract.
Find out more about the lads below:
Jasper Briggs - Goalkeeper
Jasper has developed all the way through our Academy Pathway. A dedicated individual who works hard at everything he does, JJ is a vocal goalkeeper who leads from the back and has consistently demonstrated the ability to make match-winning saves. JJ spent a period of his second-year scholarship out on loan at Biggleswade FC and was able to make an immediate impact in their side.

Harry Dawson – Right Back
Harry joined the Academy from Norwich City in his U16s season. An energetic right back who is very reliable in his performances, he spent a period of time out on loan in his first year as a scholar at Biggleswade FC, before picking up a tough injury. He has shown excellent maturity and resilience in his rehab to get back to full fitness ahead of the new season.

George Munday – Striker
George is another lad that has spent his whole Academy journey with Cambridge United. A striker by trade, George has had to come through plenty of adversity in his last few years with growth related injuries and managing his body. George is a brilliant finisher and can score all types of goals, which he has demonstrated within the youth team and out on loan at Biggleswade FC and St Ives Town last season.

Academy Manager, Dom Knighton said, "We are very pleased to be offer these three lads their first progressional contracts with the Football Club. All three as individuals have demonstrated the characteristics we feel are important to be able to progress in the senior game.
"It goes without saying that the journey of young players in particular is never linear and this is just the next step on their paths to trying to forge a career. They will have seen how hard it has been for others recently to break into the team to know the realities.
"We do however work with our young players on controlling the controllables, never getting to high or low and if they work hard enough, hopefully they will be able to fulfil their dreams here at Cambridge United."
The end of the season also means saying goodbye to several of our young players.
Second-year scholars Ty Ewens Findlay, Randy Bulakio, Peter Holmes, Danny Tyler Cowlin and Reece Hipwell are all moving on, whilst it was also announced yesterday that young pro's Brandon Njoku, Dan Barton, Louis Chadwick and Amaru Kaunda are also leaving the Club.
Dom Knighton added, "This time of the season always brings difficult decisions and hard conversation both for our second-year scholars and also our young professionals who will be leaving the football club.
"Each individual can be very proud of their efforts and achievements during their time within the Academy and Club and we will continue to follow their progress with interest.
"We will continue to support every player as they transition away into their next steps. We thank them and their families for their commitment and support throughout their journey at the Club.
"Each player has been inducted into the Academy Alumni and will always be welcome at Cambridge United."
