Michael Morrison signs new deal

Michael Morrison

Cambridge United are pleased to announce that Michael Morrison has signed a new one-year deal with the Club…

The 37-year-old centre-back and Club Captain has agreed terms to extend his stay with the U’s into a seventh season in total.

After coming through the Club’s Academy as a youngster, Morrison began his professional career at United in 2005 and made 122 appearances in his first spell with the Club, winning young player of the year for three straight seasons.

His impressive play saw him attract higher-level interest, and he would go on to play for the likes of Leicester City, Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City, before returning in January 2023 and making a further 106 appearances for the Club.

Michael Morrison said, “Once I had spoken to Neil and Mark and they wanted to offer me a contract I was really pleased, because I obviously wanted to stay, and I am delighted to extend it for another year.

“I love playing and I love playing for Cambridge. I feel good and feel like I can keep putting good performances on the pitch.”

Neil Harris added, “I am delighted that Michael has decided to stay at the Football Club with us. He is an integral part of our squad rebuild.

"His leadership qualities, as well as his performances on the pitch during my 15 games in charge were very impressive, and I look forward to working with him over the course of the next season."
